Great Britain have announced their squad for the upcoming World Championships in London, with local sprinter Adam Gemili the notable omission for the 200m.

Zharnel Hughes is preferred to the Londoner, who will compete but in the 4x100m.

Mo Farah will defend both his 5,000m and 10,000m titles, whilst Greg Rutherford has been selected despite currently carrying an ankle injury.

Laura Muir bids for both 1500m and 5,000m titles, with Katerina Johnson-Thompson going for a heptathlon and high jump double.

"We've selected some incredibly talented athletes, and in many events there have been some close calls,” British Athletics performance director Neil Black said,
