British Athletics have downplayed Mo Farah’s involvement with Jama Aden after the distance coach was arrested yesterday in a joint anti-doping operation by Spanish authorities and the IAAF.

It was reported that during the search of the training camp in Sabadell, EPO was found in six rooms along with anabolic steroids and 60 syringes. Farah has been training in Ethiopia for the past two years and Aden previously acted as an “unofficial facilitator” for the Olympic, 5,000m and 10,000m champion.

But British Athletics said Aden had helped Farah for just one week in the absence of their own officials. They said: “All Aden did was hold a stopwatch and shout times to athletes as they completed their sessions.”
