Mo Farah’s trainer Alberto Salazar and training partner Galen Rupp have today hit back at doping allegations reported by the BBC.

The BBC made the revelations on this evening's Six O'Clock News bulletin ahead of the airing of a documentary into the subject at 9pm.

Salazar is accused of 'violating anti-doping rules', including claims he was involved in doping US record holder Rupp back in 2002.

Salazar, who has coached Rupp for 14 years, began coaching Farah from 2011.

Both Salazar and Rupp have denied the accusations, and there is no suggestion that Farah is implicated nor committed any wrongdoing.

Salazar declined to be interviewed for the documentary, before issuing a statement to the BBC.

"Allegations your sources are making are based upon false assumptions and half-truths in an attempt to further their personal agendas."

In a statement, Rupp, 29, insisted: "I am completely against the use of performance enhancing drugs.

Salazar has run the Nike Oregon Project in Portland, Oregon, since 2001, coaching Rupp for 14 years. It is alleged that in 2002 Salazar was involved in the doping of the athlete.

Rupp holds the 10,000m US record and finished as silver medallist behind Farah in the 2012 Olympics race.

No Nike Oregon Project athlete has ever failed a drug test. However the BBC says that "at least seven athletes or staff" went to the US Anti-Doping Agency with their concerns.

Usada did not confirm or deny investigations to the BBC.

During his time as a runner Salazar won the New York marathon from 1980 to 1982.
