Atletico's racism shame

Atletico Madrid could be punished by the Spanish FA after racist chanting marred their 3-0 derby defeat to Real last night.

Real defender Roberto Carlos came in for particular abuse, while a tannoy announcement asking for the abuse to stop was ignored by some Atletico fans.

The racism is the latest incident which has tarnished the image of Spanish football.

The issue initially came under the spotlight following the abuse dished out to Shaun Wright-Phillips and Ashley Cole at the friendly between Spain and England at Madrid's Bernabeu stadium in November.
