Aussies attempt to arrange friendly date with England Down Under

The last time the teams met Australia beat England 3-1 at Upton Park in 2003

Australia are hoping England may agree to play a friendly Down Under next spring.

Football Federation Australia believe England's failure to qualify for Euro 2008 may have provided the opportunity to arrange the fixture.

The clash would be played in either Sydney or Melbourne, with May the most likely month.

FFA director Phil Wolanski said: "Nothing has been signed off, as far as I am aware, but Australia-England is always an attractive match in any sport."
