Aussies humiliate England again

England were tumbling towards a massive defeat in the fourth npower Ashes Test after losing half their batting line-up before the close of the second day at Headingley.

Andrew Strauss' team began their second innings 343 runs in arrears and showed better application at the start with a 58-run opening stand.

But two wickets in as many balls from Ben Hilfenhaus and a triple strike from rejuvenated Mitchell Johnson left England on a pathetic 82 for five at the close.

The complexion of the innings changed in Hilfenhaus' second over of a new spell from the Kirkstall Lane end.

Strauss was pinned leg before by one which nibbled back into him and the out-of-sorts Ravi Bopara went via the same mode of dismissal.

Essex's Bopara showed his displeasure, however, by offering his bat towards umpire Asad Rauf and suggesting an inside edge was involved.

Then, when Ian Bell's struggles against left-armer Johnson continued with an edge to second slip, England were rocking.

Paul Collingwood was dragged across his stumps by a succession of Johnson deliveries angled towards the slips before succumbing to a booming inswinger.

And Johnson made it three wickets in as many overs from the rugby stand end when opener Alastair Cook nicked a late swinger to Brad Haddin.

Earlier, Marcus North's second hundred of the series and 93 from leading run-scorer Michael Clarke saw Australia pile up 445. Stuart Broad cleaned up the tail to finish with Test-best figures of six for 91.
