Barca injury boost for Chelsea

14 April 2012

Barcelona winger Ludovic Giuly has been ruled out of the Champions League last 16 second-leg match against Chelsea through injury.

The back problem which prevented the Frenchman from playing against Espanyol on Tuesday night is worse than originally thought and he is expected to be on the sidelines for 10 days, ruling him out of this weekend's match against Osasuna and then the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Barca will miss the pace of Giuly and coach Frank Rijkaard is likely to replace him with Maxi Lopez, who made a dramatic impact against Chelsea at the Nou Camp scoring and then setting up the winner for Samuel Eto'o.

Barca won the first leg 2-1 in Catalonia.
