Becks' £135m tag 'silly'

David Beckham has revealed that it would take £ 135million to release him from his four-year contract with Real Madrid.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is thought to be planning a move for Beckham in the summer, but the 28-year-old England captain confessed that he cannot believe any club would meet the 200m euros get-out clause in his deal.

Asked about the size of his contract's release clause, the £25m midfielder said: 'It is a massive amount of money. I think it is about 200m euros, something like that, something silly.'

Such a bid would almost treble the world record £47m that Real paid Juventus for Zinedine Zidane in 2001.

But Beckham and Real remain adamant that a swift return to England is out of the question.

Beckham said: 'People keep saying I might be leaving at the end of the season but I don't know where that is coming from. I am very happy at Real Madrid.'

Real's lead at the top of the Spanish leaguewas cut to six points at the weekend when they struggled to a 1-1 draw at Racing Santander.
