Becks' boys boost for O2

13 April 2012

Coaches from David Beckham's east London football academy will make the short journey to The O2 next month as part of the venue's Summer of Sport programme.

The former England captain's top coaches will conduct free sessions for a week, starting on 3 August, as The O2's entertainment square, the London Piazza, becomes a centre for sport from 11am-10pm every day for the next seven weeks.

The Evening Standard is the media partner for the event which is focusing on racket sports this week followed by bat and ball (starting 29 July), football for children (3 August), Olympics (10 August), basketball (18 August) and gymnastics (25 August). The final week (28 August) will feature a series of technical workshops.

Organisers promise appearances by sports stars and the Piazza at the Greenwich site features a large screen showing all the summer's top action. For more information, see www.the02.co.uk
