Bellion takes his bow

14 April 2012

Sir Alex Ferguson today praised "exciting" new winger David Bellion after an impressive debut in Manchester United's 4-0 friendly win against Celtic.

The Frenchman scored his first goal for the club and has already been singled out by Ferguson as a potential first-team player this season.

In contrast to the £17million Chelsea spent on Damien Duff, United picked up Bellion on a free transfer from Sunderland.

Speaking from Seattle, following the first game of United's American tour, Ferguson said: "For any young lad of 20 to make his debut and score is exciting. I hope he develops - he has quite a bit to learn but he has good enthusiasm. He's lightning quick, his control is good but he has to develop parts of his game."
