Bentley pens Rovers deal

12 April 2012

David Bentley has signed a new contract at Blackburn, tying him to the club until the summer of 2011.

The 22-year-old England Under-21 midfielder, who joined Rovers from Barclays Premiership rivals Arsenal in January last year, has missed only one first-team game this season, scoring six goals.

Manager Mark Hughes said on the club's official website, www.rovers.co.uk: "David has really blossomed this season to produce a consistently high level of performance. He is a great talent with a big future and we are delighted to have signed him up for the long term."

Chairman John Williams added: "David is widely regarded as one of the best young footballers in the country and this represents a very significant deal for the club, underpinning out determination to continue to move forward with ambition."
