Chelsea's season just goes from bad to worse.

They’re now out of the Capital One Cup following their defeat on penalties at Stoke in midweek, three days after being beaten at West Ham in a match which saw Jose Mourinho and Nemanja Matic sent off. It’s not the first time Mourinho has been in trouble this season and 12-1 is available on him — or a member of his coaching staff — being sent to the stands against Liverpool tomorrow.

Chelsea are no worse than 11-8 to claim a top‑four place in the Premier League but the Portuguese is now the 19-20 favourite to be the next manager in England’s top flight to leave his post — and also 14-1 to be Roy Hodgson’s successor.

Pep Guardiola (9-2) and Carlo Ancelotti (7-1) are the men most likely to replace Mourinho.

Vardy’s great run will end eventually

Jamie Vardy was playing non-League football just three years ago. Now he’s an England player and the hottest striker in the Premier League after scoring in seven straight League games.

You can bet on when Vardy’s purple patch will end. It’s 4-1 that his scoring run will last one more League game —Leicester play at West Brom tomorrow — and he’s 11-2 to finish the sequence after scoring in nine consecutive games, which would mean him having to find the net at The Hawthorns and at home against Watford.

A treble on wins for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City pays 39-10, while 888sport offer money back if your first scorer bet loses within eight minutes of a Premier League match.

Succeed without trying in World Cup

If it’s tries you want, recent history would suggest tomorrow’s Rugby World Cup Final is best avoided.

With so much at stake, perhaps it’s no surprise that in the last six finals only once have a team scored more than one try and twice there were no tries at all.

With that in mind, 888sport’s offer of 20-1 on no tries being scored could be generous.

As for the match, New Zealand are 7-20 and Australia 11-5.
