Blackburn expecting a Turf war

14 April 2012

Craig Short has warned his Blackburn team-mates to expect a hostile atmosphere in Sunday's FA Cup clash at Turf Moor.

The two clubs are bitter local rivals and the battle for the FA Cup last eight is their first meeting for four years.

Short, the 36-year-old centreback, who has struggled with injury this season, scored in a 5-0 win against Burnley in 2001 in Division One.

Short said: "You don't get many hostile atmospheres these days, and hardly ever in the Premiership. Years ago we used to get it all the time at places like Leeds, the old Den and one or two other grounds but it doesn't happen much nowadays.

"So going back there, it will be a bit like the old days. It will be like nothing some players have been though.

"I suppose both sets of fans are pleased they can have a go at each other."
