Bond joins Redknapp at Southampton

14 April 2012

New Southampton manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed coach Kevin Bond will join him at St Mary's.

Bond will make the switch from Portsmouth today and Redknapp's former Pompey assistant Jim Smith could also be joining him.

Smith is away on holiday in Dubai but Redknapp intends to talk to him next week about making the move.

"Kevin's joining me today but Jim's away on holiday," Redknapp told Sky Sports News.

"When he (Smith) comes back we will sit down and talk."

Redknapp revealed he could be looking to make some free transfer signings during the January window after admitting he had not talked to Saints chairman Rupert Lowe about funds.

"I have not had a chance to sit down and talk to the chairman about that," he said.

"We may have to get a couple of free transfers in."
