Bonds on course to break record

13 April 2012

Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants has tied the single-season home run record of 70 set by Mark McGwire in 1998.

He hit a pitch from Houston Astros' Ricky Stone over the right-centre field wall in the ninth inning.

San Francisco have three games left to play, so Bonds is on course to break the record.

He has now hit 564 home runs, moving him to seventh on the all-time list. McGwire is fifth with 582.
