Floyd Mayweather has revealed he will fight Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve - but only in a three-round exhibition match.

Mayweather, 41, laid down the rules for the fight, which is due to take place in Tokyo on December 31, which includes conditions such as no kicking, no judges and no official record of the fight.

The American boxer, who won all 50 of his career bouts and 27 of them by knockout, was last seen in the ring when he beat UFC fighter Conor McGregor in Las Vegas in August 2017.

Despite proclaiming that it would be his last fight, Mayweather confirmed he would face Nasukawa in the Far East later this month and was joined his opponent when making the announcement.

“I’m in the entertainment business. That’s what I go out there to do,” Mayweather said Thursday at his Las Vegas gym.

“I love to do this. I’m working out to put on a show for three rounds.”

When asked about the fight, Nasukawa insisted he would take the opportunity to show his ability to the world.

"I'm going to use my weapons against him," Nasukawa said, aided by an interpreter.

Mayweather had initially denied making any agreement to fight Nasukawa and claimed he was "blindsided" by Japanese officials.

“First and foremost, I want it to be clear that I, Floyd Mayweather, never agreed to an official bout with Tenshin Nasukawa,” Mayweather said.
