Tempers flared as Josh Taylor and Jack Catterall weighed in for their undisputed super-lightweight championship bout on Saturday evening.

Catterall, the challenger, had been fairly reserved in the build-up to the fight up until that point and had largely refused to be drawn into a war of words.

That, however, changed as the two men went head-to-head during the weigh-in.

Ahead of the final faceoff, the pair charged towards each other and Catterall eventually grabbed Taylor by the neck.

Security guards jumped in while arguments continued, marking the first time the usually calm Catterall had reacted across the protracted build-up.

The fight had originally been planned for December but a knee injury Taylor suffered in training pushed it back and, speaking after the clash, Taylor claimed he “knew” he’d get a reaction out of his challenger.

“He put his hands on me,” Taylor said to Sky Sports.

“I knew I’d get a rise out of him. I knew I’d get a reaction.

“Tomorrow he will be flat on his back.”
