Brazil accused of spy games

World Cup nerves were fraying in Korea today as Brazil were accused of sending a spy into the camp of next Monday's opponents Turkey.

The silly season erupted when an adviser to the Brazilian coach was spotted watching the Turks training in Ulsan, prompting the Turkish manager to confront him.

Gilson Nunes, a journalist who doubles as an adviser to Brazilian coach Luiz Felipe Scolari, entered the training camp describing himself as a newspaper reporter.

After a terse exchange, in which Turkish manager Can Cobanoglu told him "I know who you are", Nunes - a former Costa Rica coach - was allowed to stay and watch. He ended up protesting to Turkish journalists: "All people in the world are friends."

Cobanoglu said the spy's presence proved the Brazilans were getting jittery. He added: "They think we are fools. If Scolari wants, he can come and watch us too, but he's right to fear us. They will see on the pitch."

Meanwhile, Scolari prompted some surprise today when he revealed that former Middlesbrough ace Juninho is likely to play against Turkey.
