Brentford get cash boost as Sky covers cup replay

Brentford will scoop a £75,000 windfall after Sky decided to screen live coverage of their FA Cup first-round replay against Bristol City on Thursday week.

Only a last-minute Leroy Lita strike cost Martin Allen's side a place in round two.

But Brentford will draw comfort from the Sky cash and the club will be hopeful of a good cup run should they triumph at Griffin Park. The winners of the tie take on non-league Hinckley United in the next round.

Meanwhile, Leyton Orient face a tricky away trip to Oldham in the second round after easing past neighbours Dagenham and Redbridge with a 3-1 victory at Brisbane Road.

Martin Ling singled out midfielder David Hunt for special praise after the 22-year-old scored one goal and created another. "He hasn't had a good time of it this year, but I thought that was his best game of the season," the Orient manager said.

Matthew Lockwood put Orient ahead with a 20-yard volley in the 11th minute before Hunt headed in Lee Steele's cross at the far post to double the home side's advantage. Wayne Carlisle then benefited from Hunt's unselfishness to tap home Orient's third just before the hour mark.

Dagenham substitute Chris Moore scored a late consolation when he converted a penalty with seven minutes remaining.

"It was the perfect way to deal with a non-league club in the FA Cup," Ling said. "We had too much for them."

Non-league sides Yeading and Slough have been drawn against each other and are one victory away from a possible dream tie against Premiership opposition.

Slough provided one of the biggest shocks of the first round with a 2-1 win over Walsall but Hornchurch's hopes of springing a surprise were dashed when Boston recovered from falling behind to Steve Castle's early goal to run out 5-2 winners.
