Brentford plan appeal over Beadle's red

13 April 2012

Brentford boss Wally Downes is set to lead an appeal over debutant Peter Beadle's red card in Brentford's 4-1 defeat at Tranmere.

The 31-year-old was sent off in the 12th minute for an alleged elbow, but manager Downes was furious with the decision which he felt was influenced by a hysterical reaction from the home bench.

Beadle has only signed a one-month deal with the Bees and a hefty suspension could damage his chances of a longer-term contract.

Downes said: "I feel for Peter, he did not deserve it. I had a perfect view of it and it wasn't a sending-off. It was a crucial decision.

"The thing that grated on me most was the attitude of the home bench. I think they completely affected the referee's decision."
