British Cup on the agenda

The Football League have written to clubs outlining proposals for a possible 'British Cup final'.

The idea would involve a game between the League Cup winners either side of the border. It has been suggested that the winners would receive £450,000 and runners-up £300,000.

Scottish Football League secretary Peter Donald said: "We regard it as a positive proposal which offers further incentive for teams to participate."

However, Donald played down suggestions that the competition could get under way this season.
