British trio set for Singapore Masters

12 April 2012

The Ryder Cup trio of Darren Clarke, Lee Westwood and David Howell will be the star attractions at next month's Singapore Masters at Laguna National Golf and Country Club.

Tournament organisers have revealed that the British trio will be competing in the 1.1 million US dollar (£560,000) event, from March 8 to 11, which is co-sanctioned by both the European and Asian Tours.

Ulsterman Clarke said: "This will be my first time competing in Singapore, and I really want to create an impact by doing well here. This will definitely be a great tournament, and I can't wait to begin my season in style."

Westwood is more familiar with the Lion City, having competed at last September's Barclays Singapore Masters - while Howell is set to appear in the Singapore Masters for the third time.

The defending champion is local golfer Mardan Mamat, who became the first Singaporean to win on the European Tour last year when he edged out England's Nick Dougherty by one stroke.
