Buderus blow for Rhinos

12 April 2012

Leeds could be without new signing Danny Buderus for the start of their engage Super League title defence.

The former Australia captain, who begins a two-year contract with the Rhinos next season, suffered a bicep injury last season and is midway through a six-month rehabilitation programme.

"Six months would be the Carnegie World Club Challenge so I would like to get in for that one, that would be pretty handy," Buderus said. "It might be pushing it to play the first one or two but I think it is three games before the World Club Challenge, so I'd like to get that third one in."

He added: "I've got a few months to go but I am on a good rehab programme. I haven't started training here at the Rhinos yet but I start on Monday."

Buderus arrived in the UK last weekend and is relishing his new challenge after spending all his professional career to date with Newcastle Knights.

Buderus has claimed every major honour with the Knights, New South Wales and the national team and is now hoping to win more with the Rhinos.
