Capello clarifies quit comments

12 April 2012

England coach Fabio Capello has insisted he will not be leaving after the 2010 World Cup.

Comments from Capello in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica that he would end his career "having made an impact at a World Cup" were interpreted to mean he would leave after the 2010 competition.

Capello's four-year contract will be reviewed following the World Cup but a spokesman for the Football Association said: "Fabio just wishes to clarify he did not mean he was planning to quit the England job after the World Cup."

The spokesman continued: "I have spoken to him and his focus is solely on one tournament at a time.

"At the moment, his full concentration is on qualifying for the 2010 World Cup and he is not thinking past that objective at the moment."
