Captain leads by example

Kevin Pietersen revelled in his first innings as England Test captain to strengthen his team's position in the final match of the npower series against South Africa.

Pietersen, who oversaw England's dismissal of the Proteas for 194 at the Brit Oval yesterday, was in the middle for the fifth ball of a delayed second morning.

He took lunch unbeaten on 42 but the loss of Alastair Cook just before the interval left England 116 for three.
