Castaignede's big comeback

13 April 2012

Thomas Castaignede has been included in Saracens' squad to face Northampton on Saturday in what will be his first real test since suffering an Achilles injury in November 2000.

Castaignede, who has had a series of operations that have enabled him to regain the full use of his leg, will be named as a replacement.

The Frenchman needs to prove his fitness before signing a new contract at Saracens.

Castaignede, who was injured warming up for a France - Australia international, said: "I feel quite happy, it's the end of a nightmare for me but I've only made a third of the ground that I want to make up. Now I want to get Saracens back to being a big team and to play at a good level."
