Cevaer lands first Tour win

Frenchman Christian Cevaer was today celebrating his amazing good fortune after claiming a first European Tour golf victory at the Spanish Open in Fuerteventura.

Cevaer holed his 137-yard second shot to the opening hole of a final round of 69 yesterday and then repeated the trick on the 16th to overhaul Argentina's Ricardo Gonzalez, who led by three shots with three holes to play.

"I would have been happy to finish in the top three but the opportunity came back to me," said Cevaer, who finished with a nine-under-par total of 271 to be one shot clear of the field. "It was a stroke of luck holing out on 16."
