Cevaer off to flier at Celtic Manor

Christian Cevaer made a remarkable start to the opening round of the Celtic Manor Wales Open today.

The Frenchman shot an eagle and three birdies in his first five holes but a bogey at the 12th spoiled his early good show.

At five under after 13 holes, Cevaer was one shot off the lead held jointly by Germany's Marcel Siem and Emanuele Canonica of Italy, who were six under after 17 and nine holes respectively.
