Chabal cited for tackle

12 April 2012

France lock Sebastien Chabal will face a disciplinary hearing on Monday after being cited for a dangerous tackle on England's Simon Shaw during Saturday night's World Cup semi-final.

The Sale star was a substitute for the match, which finished 14-9 in England's favour, and was introduced off the bench in the 26th minute following an injury to Fabien Pelous.

The tackle was spotted by citing commissioner Dennis Wheelahan, and a hearing will take place in Paris on Monday.

Chabal had been set to start for Les Bleus in Friday's third and fourth-placed play-off at the Parc des Princes.
