A Charlton fan has been arrested on suspicion of trying to punch Crystal Palace's bald eagle during a bad tempered League Cup clash.

A 34-year-old man from Welling was arrested today on suspicion of violent disorder and attempted criminal damage after he allegedly swung a punch at Kayla following the Capital One Cup tie between the south London rivals on September 23.

He remains in custody at a south London police station.

One man has been charged, and five bailed, after six people were arrested across London and Kent on Wednesday in connection with disorder both inside and outside Selhurst Park.

Witnesses reported scuffles between fans and said flares were set off around families with young children.

If you have any information may help police contact DS Andy Collin on 020 8649 0111 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
