Chelsea won't give up battle for Double insists fired-up Drogba

13 April 2012

Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou believe Chelsea can still end the season with the perfect Double of Premier League and Champions League titles.

After a week in which Chelsea closed to within three points of leaders Manchester United and reached the last four in Europe, their prospects of claiming both trophies will become clearer after today's clash between United and Arsenal.

Should United drop points, Chelsea would be champions if they won their remaining five League games, including a home match against United.

The run-in gathers pace with a match against Wigan tomorrow and another at Everton on Thursday but, with the two legs of the Champions League semi-final against Liverpool coming either side of the April 26 showdown with Sir Alex Ferguson's side, Drogba knows a Chelsea squad already lacking its two senior goalkeepers will be pushed to the limit.

Drogba said: "The most important thing is to win the Premier League or Champions League, and I think we have a good chance to do both, even if it isn't going to be easy.

"Manchester United will not give up their lead easily, and for sure Liverpool will rest some players because they are just playing to finish fourth.

"We are trying to fight for the title. It's more exciting when you have a lot of intensity in each competition."

With United having a far superior goal difference, Chelsea need Arsenal to bounce back strongly from their Champions League defeat at Liverpool.

Kalou said: "The title is all to play for. We have always thought so.

"When you are second in the table of the best League on the planet and only three points behind Manchester United, you certainly can't say you're having a bad season.

"Of course, there's no room for error. There are five games left and we have got to do everything to put United under pressure."
