Clijsters takes title again

Kim Clijsters successfully defended her WTA Championship title with a crushing 6-2, 6-0 victory over France's Amelie Mauresmo in Los Angeles.

In a remarkable display of power tennis, the Belgian world No1 lost her opening service game but then dominated the match to became the first player since Steffi Graf in 1996 to claim successive wins at the season-ending tournament.

The win earned Clijsters £600,000, the largest cash prize in women's tennis.

She said: "It's a dream come true. I played my best tennis of the tournament. I was really focused."
