Cole available for Arsenal opener

14 April 2012

Arsenal defender Ashley Cole has made himself available for the clash against Aston Villa at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday.

The 25-year-old England left-back has been linked with a move to Premiership champions Chelsea but the two clubs have yet to agree a deal. Cole criticised Arsenal in the promotional material for his autobiography and was tipped to receive a hostile reception from Gunners fans if he were to play for the club again.

However, he issued a statement through his Stellar representatives, reading: "I have made myself available for selection this weekend and it is now up to the manager whether he decides to play me."

He added: "I maintain I have no problem with the fans and the manager: they have both been very supportive of me throughout my career, in particular I hope the fans understand where my grievances lie."
