Collins preaches importance of patience

13 April 2012

Fulham player-coach John Collins preached the values of patience after the First Division champions-elect increased their lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over QPR.

It took a debatable penalty from Louis Saha and a last-gasp second from Lee Clark to seal another three points on the march to the Premiership.

The Cottagers are now a massive 14 points ahead of the chasing pack.

Plucky QPR fought hard in this West London derby and stifled Fulham despite the hosts numerous chances, only to fail in their quest for a valuable survival point.

"Most teams come here to make it difficult and get men behind the ball and try to frustrate us," said Collins.

"We have to be patient, to pass and move in our normal fashion. Inevitably all your chances cannot go in but the key word is patience.

"It has been the case with visiting teams from virtually day one. If that's the way they think they can get a result that's the way they are going to play - it might be a big negative but that's the way it is."
