Contract boost for Tremlett

Surrey paceman Chris Tremlett has been awarded an incremental contract for the 2010-11 international campaign on the back of his stunning performance in England's Ashes triumph Down Under.

The 29-year-old was seen as something of a surprise selection when team director Andy Flower named his Test party to tour Australia, but he took his chance brilliantly following Stuart Broad's injury, taking 17 wickets in the series as he played the last three Tests of England's 3-1 triumph.

Incremental contracts are awarded on a points basis, with players needing to reach 20 points to be awarded one, and Tremlett's appearance in the three one-day internationals in the current series against Australia, allied to his Ashes outings, puts him beyond that threshold.

ECB national selector Geoff Miller said: "The selectors are delighted with the contribution Chris has made in both forms of the game this winter.

"His return of 17 wickets from three Test Matches in Australia was an outstanding effort and he can be very proud of the role he played in helping the team retain the Ashes."
