Cottee looks to the future

13 April 2012

Barnet manager Tony Cottee values the LDV Vans Trophy as much as Premiership sides now view the Worthington Cup.

Cottee believes the competition will only become important to the club if they reach the latter stages of the tournament.

Cottee said: "It's a great competition if you get into the final, but like with Premiership clubs in the Worthington Cup, there is not much interest in the early rounds. We have lost three games in a row and have conceded too many goals so I will be using the game as part of the team's preparation for the League game against York.

"With the busy Christmas schedule I have had no time to work on the defensive side to our game, so the Peterborough match gives us an opportunity to get things right for Saturday."

Defender Warren Goodhind and striker Tony Richards are suspended, but Mike Basham may be recalled to the squad after a long lay-off with foot and hamstring injuries.
