Two quick wickets from Saqlain Mushtaq gave Surrey a fine start as they went in search of their first win of the season against Warwickshire at Edgbaston. Nick Knight (28) and Ian Bell (34) were his victims.

Essex

Darren Gough recovered from a poor start on his debut for Essex at Cardiff. The England bowler conceded 24 runs off his first four overs but returned to bowl his next four for just one run.
Glamorgan 87-1 (25 overs) v Essex

Hampshire

A stand of 50 steadied the ship after Hampshire lost Derek Kenway with four runs on the board against Yorkshire. Michael Brown went for 13 but William Kendall had advanced to 35 not out.
