County cricket: Batty equals record

14 April 2012
Division One
Surrey v Kent

Surrey wicketkeeper Jonathan Batty today equalled the world record for the number of catches in an innings.

The 30-year-old claimed three more victims today to become only the fourth person to achieve such a feat.

In so doing, the Surrey captain also set his side on the way to their first
championship victory of the season as they forced Kent to follow on after dismissing them for 239.

Robert Key (86), Robert Ferley (0) and Mohammad Sami (5) were all caught off the bowling of Martin Bicknell as Batty added to the five scalps he claimed yesterday. It has been a good match all round for the wicketkeeper batsman, who made a century in Surrey's innings.

Kent need 205 more runs to avoid an innings defeat.
