Sussex v Surrey

James Ormond put champions Surrey back in the hunt at Hove with three quick wickets.

Resuming at 362-4, Chris Adams did not add to his overnight score of 107 before Ormond had him caught by Jonathan Batty. He then picked up Matthew Prior and Mark Davis for ducks. Mushtaq Ahmed hit an unbeaten 25 from 21 balls.

Kent v Essex

Kent will look to build on a solid start to their second innings at Canterbury this afternoon.

In a low scoring affair, David Fulton (9 not out) and Ed Smith (14 not out) are at the wicket after Graham Napier removed Michael Carberry for 36.

Middlesex

After a delayed start, Middlesex did not take long to wrap up the Notts innings, when Charles Shreck was removed for 1. The visitors lost no wickets when 32-0 at lunch.

Hampshire


Visiting skipper Mike Hussey won the toss at the Rose Bowl and decided Northants would field, having lost last night's National League game between the sides. Hampshire were 94 for three at lunch.

Glenn McGrath has been forced out of Australia's one-day series against Bangladesh.

The fast bowler is seeing a specialist after injuring his ankle in the Test series.

No replacement has been announced for the games, on Saturday, Sunday and next Wednesday.

Bangladesh off-spinner Sanwar Hossain is likely to play despite being reported by the umpires for a suspect bowling action.

Hossain can play for six weeks while his action is reviewed.
