Cracking up: Mourinho dishes out a shelling after Sheva saves his bacon

13 April 2012

Jose Mourinho threatened to push the panic button last night after shot-shy Chelsea were held to an embarrassing 1-1 draw with Norwegian side Rosenborg.

The Chelsea manager launched a scathing attack on his side after they drew their opening Champions League clash in front of just 24,973 supporters at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were stunned when Rosenborg, fifth in the Norwegian league, took the lead through Miika Koppinen.

Bridge of sighs: Koppinen gets in front of Terry to fire Rosenborg in front

Andriy Shevchenko scored a secondhalf equaliser, but Chelsea were booed off the pitch by their own fans and a bristling Mourinho said: 'You cannot quantify my disappointment. I am alarmed and I'm not happy. First, we cannot score goals and, second, we have no good news from the medical department about the number of players I have injured.

'We had 20 chances and scored one goal. That means we needed 40 chances to score two. And 60 chances to score three, but we cannot create 60 chances in 90 minutes. Rosenborg did what all smaller teams do, but we must be ready for that.'

It is a disastrous start to the Champions League campaign for Mourinho's side and jubilant Rosenborg coach Knut Torum even predicted victory for his side when they meet in Norway on November 28.

Torum said: 'We can beat them. The last time Chelsea came to Norway, it was the middle of the winter and they lost.'

That was in 1997, when they were beaten by Tromso, but Mourinho's problems are more immediate.

Chelsea were knocked off the top of the Premiership when they were beaten by Aston Villa and they were held to a draw against Blackburn last Saturday.

Their last victory was against Portsmouth on August 25, and they travel to Old Trafford on Sunday struggling to find their stride.
