The 2015 Investec Ashes gets underway in Cardiff today and, with the stakes as high as ever, both Alastair Cook and Michael Clarke's sides will be eager to get the upper hand from the very first ball.

In a game of small margins there is a fine line between cheating and gamesmanship, but sledging often falls under the latter, as batsman and bowlers attempt to ruffle each other's feathers.

Of course, in the heat of the moment, matters can occasionally go too far, but there have been several pieces of white-hot whit on show throughout the historical rivalry that have been fondly remembered.

Fans can often recall players for their cheeky remarks, or retorts, as easily as their performances and here we have picked o top five sledges in Ashes history.
