Ashes series highlights for ITV4

10 April 2012

Highlights of the forthcoming Ashes series will be shown free-to-air on digital ITV4 - but not until 10pm every evening.

ITV today announced they have agreed terms with Cricket Australia and IMG Media to show the 2010-11 series on their digital channel.

However, the highlights will not be shown until late in the evening when the following day's live action will be about to get under way.

The same channel - which ITV say is available "to 93% of homes" - will also show highlights of the Twenty20 and one-day series in January and February.

ITV controller of sport, Niall Sloane said: "There is huge demand to see England defend the Ashes and I'm delighted that we have secured highlights, free-to-air for UK viewers."

A spokesman for ITV revealed the time of broadcast for the highlights was out of their control.

"The rights available to other broadcasters did not allow for transmission earlier than 10pm," he said.

"We're delighted to be able to bring free-to-air highlights to viewers at the earliest opportunity."
