Australia are going to feel more pain, insists Salman Butt

Useful runs: Salman Butt top scored for Pakistan with a well made 71

Pakistan opener Salman Butt led his side to a 204-run lead on day two of the Second Test in Sydney and then warned Australia's batsmen they could be in for another tough time.

The hosts were dismissed for just 127 on the opening day and were given the runaround for much of today as Pakistan closed on 331 for nine. Although Butt (right) coped best with the unusually grassy wicket at the SCG — top scoring with 71 — he believes it still favours the bowlers.

"I think the pitch might change slightly but not that much," said Butt. "It's one of those where you're never settled and you're never in. The time you think you're in and the ball does something, so you've got to stay relaxed.

"There will always be something for the seamers and hopefully the spinners will also get help and if Danish [Kaneria] can do what he's capable of, we'll be well off."

Pakistan were cruising at 205 for three before they were stung by a late rally from the hosts with Doug Bollinger claiming three wickets.

Meanwhile, injured Brett Lee is still targeting a return for the World Twenty20 in May despite undergoing the "most painful" operation of his career.

The 33-year-old Australia fast bowler had surgery to repair ligament damage to his right elbow five weeks ago and has dismissed speculation his career is over.

"I've had 12 operations in my career now. This has probably been the worst and the most painful," he said. "However, I'm pretty positive. I would love to get to the Twenty20 World Cup in the West Indies."
