‘Boof’ is no Bradman

New coach Darren Lehmann may not have been the greatest Australian to grace the Ashes but former Aussie batting star Tom Moody believes his appointment could prove to be a big success.

Moody, twice a World Cup-winner and former international coach, is confident ‘Boof’ can make an impact.

“Even though it’s an off-field appointment — they haven’t suddenly inherited a Sir Donald Bradman in the batting line-up or a Dennis Lillee in the bowling attack — they have secured a mentor,” Moody said today.

“He’s a coach who will provide an environment where players will feel free to enjoy themselves within limitations. They will also be able to express themselves under pressure on the field of play without fearing the consequences if it doesn’t go their way.”
