Vacancy: Collier left his post last month after 10 years in the job
Tom Collomosse15 August 2014

English cricket bosses will begin interviewing candidates for the chief executive role in a month.

The England and Wales Cricket Board are seeking a successor to David Collier, who left his post last month after 10 years in the job.

They are understood to be keen to wait until the international summer is completed before whittling down the available candidates.

Richard Gould, the current chief executive of Surrey, is believed to be one of the contenders. Gordon Hollins and Steve Elworthy, both of whom work for the ECB, are also thought to be interested in the job, while Derek Brewer, who is chief executive of the MCC, also has supporters at boardroom level.

While the ECB may decide to look outside cricket, as they did when appointing Paul Downton to succeed Hugh Morris as managing director, it is understood they would prefer someone from inside the game.
