Mohammad Amir will return to Test cricket on Thursday at the scene of the 2010 spot-fixing scandal which saw him banned for five years.
The 24-year-old was found to have bowled no-balls on purpose in the Lord's Test six years ago and served a three-month stint in a young offenders unit on top of his ban from the sport.
The suspension derailed a promising career, but Amir is again being tipped to climb to the very top of the game.
James Anderson has been ruled out for the hosts with a shoulder injury, but will likely return for the second Test, and Stuart Broad is hopeful he can still do the damage in Anderson's absence.
He said: "I have played 90-odd Test matches, and I can only think of maybe five or six without Jimmy.
"You are stepping into the unknown, but that can give you a bit extra. Trent Bridge went well, Durban went well. I hope it will go the same here."
