Two tickets for the 100th Test at The KIA Oval was the star sporting lot in the Evening Standard’s latest online auction for our Young and Homeless Helpline Christmas appeal.
The chance to see England take on South Africa this summer, including a tour of the media centre by the Standard’s cricket correspondent Tom Collomosse, warranted a top bid of £1,001 from eight bidders.
The opportunity to go cycling with Olympic champion Elinor Barker topped £500 in the fundraiser for the Centrepoint helpline. Barker offered the lot to the lucky winner and two friends to ride with her on the roads of Manchester and Cheshire in 2017.
A pair of hospitality tickets to see Arsenal host Crystal Palace on New Year’s Day raised £550.
And £400 was enough for one lucky bidder to own a share in a racehorse.
