Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales will be recalled for England’s limited-overs tour of India in the New Year, while Ben Duckett is expected to miss out.

Morgan, England’s short-form captain, and opener Hales were absent from their side’s last one-day series in Bangladesh, in October, after refusing to travel over security fears. But they will return for the three one-day and three T20 internationals in India next month.

Duckett, who scored two half-centuries in his debut series in Bangladesh, is likely to be missing when the squads are named this evening. Joe Root, who is set to become a father next month, is expected to be present, with England opting against resting key players.

England ODI squad (probable): E Morgan (captain, Middlesex), M Ali (Worcs), J Bairstow (Yorks), S Billings (Kent), J Buttler (wkt, Lancs), A Hales (Notts), J Root (Yorks), J Roy (Surrey), B Stokes (Durham), J Ball (Notts), L Dawson (Hants), L Plunkett (Yorks), A Rashid (Yorks), D Willey (Yorks), C Woakes (Warwicks).

England T20 squad (probable): Morgan (captain), Ali, Billings, Buttler (wkt), Hales, Root, Roy, Stokes, Ball, Dawson, Plunkett, Rashid, Willey, C Jordan (Sussex), T Mills (Sussex).
