England suffered a 4-0 series defeat in India after collapsing to lose the Fifth Test on the final day in Chennai.

Alastair Cook’s position as captain appears untenable after the heavy defeat, his side losing all 10 wickets from the afternoon session onwards as they slumped to their second innings defeat inside eight days.

India spinner Ravindra Jadeja took a career-best seven for 48 as England collapsed from 103 without loss to 207 all out inside 49 overs.

England, who had conceded a record 759 for seven declared yesterday, lost their final six wickets for 15 runs to end their seventh Test on the sub-continent in nine weeks with a new low.

Above, Standard Sport assesses the performances of coach Trevor Bayliss and the 17 cricketers who played against India across the series, rating each out of 10.
