Middlesex have confirmed the signing of Australia batsman Peter Handscomb.

The 28-year-old, who has experience of three previous stints playing county cricket in England, joins Middlesex on a two-year deal and will captain the team for First-Class and List-A matches.

He will bolster Middlesex’s batting line-up and comes with the pedigree of having made 40 appearances for Australia in all three forms of the game.

“Peter is a fine player and he will fill a couple of the gaps that have been created,” said Middlesex coach Stuart Law.
